Developing Potential:

Michelle McLean Primary School

The Michelle McLean Primary School is not only the largest single project undertaken by the Trust up to now, but it is also a proud landmark in its endeavours to fulfil its promises and mission to `assist and encourage the youth of Namibia to commit themselves to their future and to the future of Namibia`.

The School was built in Otjomuise in 2000 as a state school in a joint venture with the Ministry of Basic Education, Sport and Culture. For many learners from Otjomuise the long walk to school is now something of the past.

gift (lollipop, packet of chips and cooldrink)
The first phase consisted of 18 classrooms, a library, a place of assembly, two ablution blocks, an office and administrative complex and a residence for the caretaker.

The school was inaugurated by The President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr Sam Nujoma and Michelle McLean in October 2000.

The school started in 2001 with a total of 493 learners. That total has now grown to more than 900 learners from Grade 1-7, and 24 teachers. During October 2004, with the fourth anniversary of the school, the second phase consisting of a block of three classrooms and an ablution block, was completed and put into service.
